MOORESVILLE, N.C. (April 10, 2017) – Saturday’s Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 150 at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Easley S.C., marked the return of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East after a two-month hiatus.
Harrison Burton and Kyle Benjamin highlighted a two-car effort for MDM Motorsports. Benjamin won the 21 Means 21 Pole Award for the second straight year at this event. His teammate, Burton, also had a strong qualifying result and started the race from the third position. Both drivers ran near the top-five the entire event. Benjamin took the lead on lap 109 and never looked back, scoring the victory. Burton, driving a newly redesigned No. 12 DEX Imaging car, scored a fourth-place finish.
Harrison Burton, driver of the DEX Imaging No. 12… Burton, the son of former Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series star Jeff Burton, scored another top-five finish in Saturday’s Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 150. After starting third, he ran inside the top-10 the entire event. Restarting sixth on the final restart, Burton fought his way inside the top-five and scored his second straight fourth-place finish in NKNPSE competition. He will return to the seat of the No. 12 DEX Imaging Toyota Camry at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway on April 22, a track he won the 21 Means 21 Pole Award at last season. He currently sits second in series points.
Burton on Greenville Pickens Speedway: “Our race was full of ups and downs. We really had to dig deep to get the finish we did. The guys worked their tails off trying to get the car better, but we just couldn’t find the speed we needed to compete for the win. We salvaged the day points wise though. Now our focus is on Bristol, somewhere I know we can compete for the win.”
